George1948, despite being inflicted with Lou Gehrig's disease, has created a wonderful array of tracks on his BeSonic homepage. George1948 has created some amazing dancehall, hip-hop, and reggae tracks. What is even more amazing is that he has created them while being paralyzed by Lou Gehrig's disease. I recently took the time to download and listen to each track created by George1948. While I enjoyed certain elements of each track, I really liked 'Where Are You Now?', 'Hypocrites', and 'You're Gone'. 'Where Are YouNow?' displays an excellent drum line, low and steady bass, and great use of female vocal pads. 'Hypocrites' features a slow reggae beat with seamlessly tied together vocals. 'You're Gone' displays George's sequencing talent the best, taking the track to new levels in terms of originality and style. It is simply amazing to think that a man with such a disabling illness has put all of these tracks together. What impresses me most is that these tracks are able to bring out such a fun atmosphere. You would think that facing such an illness would leave someone feeling depressed and alone, but this is not the case for George. His ambition and will to survive carries these tracks, and that translates into a mature sound and a positive vibe.
wezel about george1948: Many people give up with fewer obstacles...George is trapped in a nonfunctional body but he still creates great music... When I first heard George's material I knew nothing about him. I listened, enjoyed, added some songs to my playlist and carried on. I rated some of George's tunes, and he rated some of mine. We chatted back and forth a bit via email. It was only much later that learned a bit more about him. I learned that George is afflicted with Lou Gehrigs disease and had been creating his music using a Yamaha keyboard until he lost more and more movement, and finally using only one finger, was continuing to create music with his computer. I find it quite exceptional that George continued to create music inspite of being seriously handicapped. His music - in the electronic/dance genre - is interesting, appealing - very listenable. He has done a great job of mixing, and has made the best use of the various sounds at his disposal. I particularly enjoyed "Happy Days". George always manages to get some really neat vocal stuff happening and I particularly like the effects he has generated in this piece.. All his pieces are different, and have a special feel to them. The mood changes and you are transported to a new place. When you consider how many obstacles George has to overcome to create each piece, it is truly amazing to hear what he has accomplished. I would be pleased to take home a George 1948 CD! He's awesome!
