COPPS IS A ROBBER!!!
I am so sick of Sheila Copps and her spineless attempts to be a heritage minister.

This tax grab on recordable cassettes and CD's is yet another example of her ignorance. She has no idea of what is burning in the roots, hearts and creative minds of our people.

How long do we have to be victims of government and big business oppression before we can express ourselves while making some financial gain? I have been an entertainment journalist for over twenty years now, writing for every little rural newspaper, entertainment magazine, and website that would have me. Over the years, I have interviewed thousands of cultural entrepreneurs whose pride, enthusiasm and human spirit have been destroyed by government granting agency and cocky corporate employees.

Face it, in Canada - artists are treated by the government and the professional classes in the same fashion that they treat welfare people. I think that Sheila Copps should walk a few miles in my shoes and listen to the dashed hopes and conquered dreams of the creative culture living in her midst. I also believe that government and corporations are forcing this tax because they are afraid of the artist's power of communication - the spiritual force that speaks directly with the people in Canada. Hitler knew of it and during his rise to power in Germany, he ordered his military to seek out the artists and have them executed. Franco did the same in Spain. Well, in Canada they don't kill artists, first they feed them full of propaganda, then they make them do endless paperwork and beg for money, then when the artist realizes that the only way to go - is to start an independent enterprise - they tax them out of business.

Copps is a robber - no different that a common thief on the street. The injustice and bad karma is insurmountable, and I am sure that the divine universe will take care of her in a way that is suitable of a thief. In the meantime, I think that the artists in this country have got to stand up for their rights.

Start a tax revolt party in your town. Get the press involved. A collective effort will send a message to Ottawa that the creative culture of Canada has every right to do what makes them happy and makes a profit to boot!
